Micah Lexier
Rectangles 180° / Rectangles 0°
Micah Lexier’s activities focus on making, collecting, and organizing. Like a lot of his works, the projects he developed for À l’affiche utilize simple forms like circles, rectangles, lines and scribbles, drawn from the artist’s vast archive of found imagery. For each new project, Lexier digs into this resource and select images that seem right for the context; in this case, a suite of related silkscreen prints.
The Rectangle prints started their life as an image in a preschool children’s workbook. Using a systemic approach, the artist conducted a series of rotations and shifted the orientation of the image, from horizontal to vertical. The geometrical pattern is defined by the quality of thicker and thinner lines.
Edition of 12 copies, printed on Cougar paper of archive quality, 15x18 inches (each). 2 colors silkscreen prints, sold as a pair.

Comma
The Comma print image was found in a teacher’s writing manual. It was then transformed into a simplified version of itself, with the single addition of a colored comma, different on each individual print.
Edition of 22 copies printed on Cougar paper of archive quality, 15x18 inches. 3 colors silkscreen print, with the comma printed in a different color on every print.
Circles and Numbers / Circles / Numbers
The image used in Circles and Numbers was taken from the endpapers of an obstetric nurse’s handbook from the 1950s. Broken down to its constitute parts and taken out of its original context, the series reminisces of a conceptual aesthetic, with its minimal design and its focus on measurements and numbers.
Edition of 15 copies, printed on Cougar paper of archive quality, 15x18 inches (each). 2 colors silk-screen prints, sold as a triptych.
Scribble (Right)
The Scribble prints are based on an image found in a handbook of woodworking technique. The minimal look of the linear sketch is complemented by the addition of a pencil drawing, made directly on each print by the artist.
