Yann Pocreau
Papier / encre / surfaces (Dumouchel)
Yann Pocreau used the opportunity to work with a set of papers, hand-dyed by renowned printmaker Albert Dumouchel, as the starting point for this year’s edition of À l’affiche. Following this paper’s own specific constraints—its delicate nature, and use of blue pigment, which would come out at the slightest pass—, the artist would then transfer the excess ink onto a second work that acted as a counterpoint to the first. Exploiting the confusion between the ink’s thickness, its layering and transparencies, ridges and troughs, these two works—distinct, and yet conceived as one—are a tribute to Dumouchel’s use of colour, in which shapes gather, conspire and combine with one another.
Edition of 25 copies, 43x56 cm. Silkscreen and embossing on hand dyed japanese paper that belonged to Albert Dumouchel.
